Kamiyama Beer Project
Nano Beer Brewery
Kamiyama, Tokushima, Japan 2018
Located in the forests of Kamiyama, Tokushima Japan. The nano brewery brewery, Kamiyama Beer produces a variety of excellent craft-beers.

Kamiyama has successfully turned the tides against Japans rapid rural depopulation problem. Together with its KAIR, artist in residence program and attracting leading IT company’s Kamiyama has become a new settlement for young couples that are in need of a better work-life balance.
With the re-development of Kamiyama new demands have been rissen, such as a Maker-space, restaurant and a social hub to come together after a long working day. Kamiyama Beer Project started out of this need and the demand for a refreshing beer.

Close to camping Cotton Field campsite コットンフィールド ,

About the design:
The inside of breweries are often humid during the brewing process. Kamiyama Beer Project is designed from the inside out, and therefore having a ‘double facade’ that could get wet on the inside as well. Made from double walled Polycarbonate, it acts as covered patio that brings the green of Kamiyama inside. But not unraveling all the mysteries of the brewer.

Founder & master brewer Manus Sweeney (Irish) and Sayaka Abe (Japanese, Mie prefecture) moved from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Kamiyama Japan in 2016. After traveling the world they saw a great opportunity to brew local beer in the countryside of Japan. In july 2018 Kamiyama Beer opened its bar-shop and brewery

The terras of Kamiyama Beer Project gives you the best view over the valley. In the distance is the Onsen ( bathhouse with natural hot spring ) and up the mountain, within walking distances, is Cotton Field campsite. Connected with a bridge for direct access. It is the best place to enjoy a #siwasiwa ale made with local Kamiyama wheat #barleymoon #blond-ale #daydream #ipa #woodlander #extrastout while hearing the sound of the river

Inside
The inside the bar&shop of kamiyama brewery is small but very cozy, fully made with local sugi (Japanese Cedar)
Beer handles designed & made by Morgane de Klerk with Yaki Sugi technique.
All the furniture specially designed for Kamiyama Beer Project

Master brewer Manus, wanted a secluded space for brewing his beers. The semi translucent Polycarbonate inner facade gives a ambient blur between the brewery and the shop / outside.
